KUALA LUMPUR: DAP has announced that they will be contesting 15 seats in the upcoming Selangor state election on August 12, according to Anthony Loke, the party’s secretary-general.

Loke revealed that the seats that DAP will be contesting are Sekinchan, Kuala Kubu Baharu, Teratai, Balakong, Seri Kembangan, Kinrara, Subang Jaya, Bukit Gasing, Kampung Tunku, Bandar Utama, Bandar Baru Klang, Pandamaran, Kota Kemuning, Banting, and Sungai Pelek.

He emphasized the importance of fielding strong candidates who can win the hearts of voters, stating, “We want a line-up that can bring victory to us. We know that in this upcoming polls, we will face fierce competition. After various considerations, we’ve concluded that we need good candidates who can win the hearts of voters. I thank some of the incumbents who were willing to step aside and give way to fresh new faces. With these candidates, I’m confident that we can maintain our victory in all 15 seats.”

Of the 15 candidates fielded in Selangor, Loke revealed that six are fresh new candidates, five are women, and five are young candidates below the age of 40.

Additionally, Loke announced that former Banting assemblyman Lau Weng San has been nominated as the next Selangor assembly Speaker, a proposal that has been approved by the Pakatan Harapan presidential council.
