GEORGE TOWN: Several incumbents from DAP will not be named as candidates for the upcoming Penang election as part of the party’s renewal process, says Anthony Loke.
“Think of it as a party renewal process,” said the DAP secretary-general, urging those not making the list. Loke made these comments after attending the state DAP fundraising dinner on Sunday (July 16).
Loke mentioned that they have not yet received the candidates list from Penang, as it will be decided by the central executive committee.
Penang, being an important state with a DAP chief minister, is a priority for the party as they aim to defend it for a fourth term.
Regarding retaining a two-thirds majority, Loke acknowledged the challenges posed by Perikatan Nasional in the Malay heartlands but assured that Pakatan would work tirelessly to retain it.
“With Chow Kon Yeow as the chief minister, the coalition is united to face the Opposition under a single captain,” he said.
