KOTA KINABALU: Sandakan Grafbusters has arrested two members of an enforcement agency on suspicion of soliciting a RM5,000 bribe.
The officers allegedly sought the bribe as an inducement to refrain from taking action against a complainant who reportedly committed a traffic offence at a roadblock Wednesday morning (Oct 30).
According to the allegations, the enforcement officers requested money from the complainant to prevent prosecution for driving without a licence and operating a vehicle with a false registration number.
The complainant subsequently reported the matter to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrest, stating that the case is under investigation under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
He also mentioned that both suspects have been released with the consent of the MACC.
