PETALING JAYA: Four suspects are currently under investigation by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) over improper and inappropriate online comments regarding a Parliamentary session.
In a statement on Wednesday (July 17), the MCMC said that the comments were linked to a Parliamentary session uploaded on TikTok and Facebook on July 9.
It added that statements were recorded in Rawang, Sungai Petani, Butterworth, and Kangar, following public complaints.
Sim cards and handphones believed to have been used to upload the comments have been seized.
Investigations are being conducted under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, for improper use of network facilities.
“This has now led to six people in total being investigated. This action is to prevent the act of cyberbullying from spreading within the community.
“The MCMC advises all to not use online facilities and applications to upload postings or comments that go against the country’s law,” it said.
