SEREMBAN: Two senior officers from an organisation here have been remanded for allegedly soliciting and accepting bribes totalling RM14,000.

Magistrate Syed Farid Syed Ali signed the order to allow the duo to be remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for seven days until Aug 12.

It is learnt that the suspects are being probed for allegedly accepting bribes related to the appointment of a supplier to purchase computer and office equipment for the organisation.

The duo, in their 30s and 40s, were detained at the MACC office here on Monday (Aug 5) after they were called in to have their statements recorded.

A source said the alleged bribe money was deposited into the suspects’ accounts between January and March last year.

When contacted, Negri Sembilan MACC director Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail said the case was being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
