PETALING JAYA: Malaysians residing in or travelling to the United Kingdom have been advised to stay away from areas involved in protests over the stabbing incident in Southport.
Wisma Putra urged Malaysians to remain vigilant and follow the latest updates and guidance provided by local authorities.
“Malaysians who have not yet registered with the Malaysian High Commission in London are strongly encouraged to do so immediately to ensure they receive timely information and assistance,” said the Foreign Ministry in a statement on Sunday (Aug 4).
Reports indicate that rioting has erupted in several UK cities, linked to a mass stabbing on Monday (July 29) that resulted in the deaths of three young girls.
A 17-year-old has been charged with murdering the three girls who were stabbed at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport.
Axel Muganwa Rudakubana is also facing 10 counts of attempted murder after eight other children and two adults were seriously injured in the attack.
Wisma Putra stated that Malaysians requiring consular assistance can reach the Malaysian High Commission in London at 45-46 Belgrave Square, London.
The High Commission can also be contacted at +44 20 3931 6196/+44 20 7235 8033 or by email at [email protected].
