According to Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail, a 36-year-old man was arrested for reportedly assaulting his wife and damaging her possessions at their residence in Pandan Perdana.

The dispute began between the victim, who works as an interior designer, and the suspect at around 9:30 in the morning on Monday (Jan 29).

He proceeded to smash his wife’s laptop, then struck her, causing an injury to her right arm.

“The suspect became enraged when his wife declined to assist him with household chores,” he remarked in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 31).

The suspect was apprehended at his residence approximately 6:20 in the evening on Tuesday (Jan 30) as a result of the investigation.

“Despite being unemployed, the suspect had a negative drug test and no previous criminal history,” he stated.

The suspect has since been remanded until Friday (Feb 2).

“We are looking into potential charges under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 427 of the same code,” he confirmed.
