A 27-year-old man was arrested for impersonating a police officer in Pandan Cahaya, according to Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail.
The suspect, who was wearing a police vest and riding a motorcycle around 1.45am on Monday (Jan 1), was stopped by police patrol personnel. When asked to present his authority card, the suspect failed to do so and could not provide a valid reason for wearing the vest with the word ‘Polis’ written on it, leading to his arrest.
Several items were confiscated, including a motorcycle, a set of keys, a vest and a MyKad. The suspect was found to be drug-free and had no prior criminal records. He has been detained until Thursday (Jan 4) and the case is being classified under Section 170 of the Penal Code and Section 89 of the Police Act for impersonating a police officer.
