KULAI: Tragedy struck on the North-South Expressway (NSE) when a young man lost his life in a car accident at KM29.1. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon, prompting a swift response from the Johor Fire and Rescue Department.
According to the department’s operations centre, they received an emergency call at 2.08pm on Thursday regarding a collision between a car and a lorry. Immediately, six firemen from the Kulai Fire station, equipped with a Rapid Fire Rescue Tender vehicle and Emergency Medical Response Services, were dispatched to the scene.
Tragically, the lorry driver fled the scene, leaving behind a trapped victim in the car. In order to rescue the injured passenger, the firemen relied on their special equipment and expertise. Sadly, the victim was pronounced dead on the spot by a Health Ministry medical team. Meanwhile, the car’s driver, a 31-year-old, sustained injuries and was transported to Kulai Hospital.
Following the necessary procedures, the victim’s body was handed over to the police for further investigation. The entire operation concluded at 3.12pm, leaving behind a somber scene on the NSE.
