In Kuala Lumpur, an unemployed man has been given a two-month prison sentence by the Magistrate’s Court for trespassing into the Muzium Negara Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station customer service counter with the intention of stealing money.

    B. Durairajan, 35, was convicted by Magistrate Aina Azahra Arifin after admitting to the trespassing offence that occurred at 12.20am on Tuesday (Jan 16).

The court has also directed that the accused must begin serving his jail time from the date of his arrest on Jan 16.

The charge under which Durairajan was convicted, Section 447 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum prison sentence of six months, a fine of up to RM3,000, or both.

The case facts revealed that the accused entered the area and attempted to break into the cash register machine at the customer service counter.

However, security personnel managed to capture him, and no financial losses were reported as a result of his actions. – Bernama
