BALIK PULAU: The man suspected of murdering his mother in an apartment in Relau has been remanded for seven days.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Razlam Ab Hamid said the 40-year-old was taken to the Balik Pulau Magistrate’s Court at about 9am and remanded for seven days from Sunday (June 16) for investigation under Section 302 of Penal Code for murder.
ACP Razlam said medicine belonging to the suspect, who had just received psychiatric treatment on June 14, was found during the course of the investigation.
On Saturday (June 15), the man was apprehended after police received information about the incident from the suspect’s brother.
The suspect had contacted his brother saying that he had stabbed their 67-year-old mother with a pair of scissors.
