KUALA LUMPUR: An investigation into a potential bribery case involving a RM25mil agriculture tractor supply project has led to the detention of a managing director from a tractor distribution company.
The woman, who is in her 50s, has been remanded until Feb 8 after appearing in Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where Magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin issued the remand order.
According to sources, the managing director was previously one of three individuals detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in connection with the case.
The other two individuals detained were a marketing general manager and a sales general manager. They are suspected of being involved in offering and providing bribes to officers at an agriculture company in return for the RM25mil project.
The two other suspects were released on MACC bail, while the managing director was remanded.
Meanwhile, MACC senior director of Investigation, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim, confirmed the arrests when contacted, stating that the other suspects were released on bail due to health reasons and that the case is classified under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
