The High Court has scheduled a hearing on March 13 for an application by Toh Puan Na’imah Abdul Khalid, the wife of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, seeking the permanent return of her passport, as announced by Justice Ahmad Bache during case management on Monday (Feb 19). Written submissions by both parties must be submitted by March 4 and responses to the submissions by March 11.
Earlier, Na’imah’s lawyer M. Puravalen informed the court that the defence had submitted the application for passport retrieval on Feb 16. DPPs Ahmad Feisal Mohd Azmi and Mohd Fadhly Mohd Zamry confirmed that the prosecution had received the court document on Monday.
Na’imah, 66, had claimed trial at the Sessions Court on Jan 23 for not declaring her assets and is currently out on RM250,000 bail. As part of the conditions, she had to surrender her passport to the court.
Justice Ahmad Bache set the date for the hearing and also ordered for oral submissions before the court on March 13. In addition, he mentioned that parties must reply to the submissions by March 11.
