JOHOR BARU: The mass transfer of teachers involving schools around Pasir Gudang area will only be done in February 2025, says Hassan Abdul Karim.
The Pasir Gudang MP said the decision was made during a meeting with the Johor Education Department held in Masai here on Sunday (Oct 6).
“In the meeting, chaired by state Education Department director Mohd Hanafi Samad, we agreed that the transfer of teachers will only start after the academic session final test (UASA) assessment is done.
“The transfer of the teachers will only begin in phases in February next year before the 2025 school term starts,” he said after the meeting, which was also attended by Johor education and information committee chairman Aznan Tamin, Johor Jaya assemblyman Liow Cai Tung, Tiram assemblyman Azizul Bachok, school boards, parent-teacher associations and headmasters of all schools.
Hassan added that the mass transfer of teachers extended beyond 11 Chinese schools but also involved four Tamil schools and 55 primary schools in the Pasir Gudang area.
On Saturday, it was reported that the mass transfer of over 130 teachers from about 10 Chinese schools in Pasir Gudang had been postponed indefinitely following public backlash.
