PETALING JAYA: The Prime Minister’s announcement to guarantee all SPM students who scored 10As and above will get a place in the matriculation programme will not affect the existing Malay student quota, says Fahmi Fadzil.

“It will not affect the existing Bumiputera student quota,” the Communications Minister wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday (June 30).

He added that the Cabinet approved the decision on Friday (June 28).

Fahmi also said that the Education Ministry would disclose further details about the initiative on Monday (July 1)

Earlier, Anwar announced that the government would ensure all SPM leavers who achieved 10As and above, regardless of race and region, would be offered the opportunity to pursue Matriculation studies starting this year.
