MATTA Penang kicks-off with 261 booths

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair 2023 began on Saturday (Sept 30) at the Setia SPICE Arena in Bayan Lepas. Featuring 261 booths, the event is hosting travel agents, state tourism organizations, hotels, and theme parks, among others, according to MATTA Penang Chapter chairman Carolyn Leong.

Leong expressed optimism about the fair, stating that they anticipate around 30,000 visitors over the course of the event, which lasts from Sept 30. She also mentioned that the first day of the fair has seen a positive crowd and outlook for the country’s tourism industry.

Regarding sales, Leong said MATTA expects to generate between RM25mil to RM30mil for the two-day fair, which operates from 10am to 9pm.
