On the 75th anniversary of MCA’s establishment, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, the party’s president, reflects on the struggles of his predecessors and pledges to be the voice of the people.
He emphasizes that MCA’s purpose remains the advocacy for the interests of people from all backgrounds, regardless of their social status.
“It was 75 years ago on Feb 27, 1949, when the establishment of MCA marked a significant moment in history,” Dr. Wee stated in a Facebook post on Tuesday. “The spirit of our party founder, Tun Tan Cheng Lock, and other past leaders continues to guide each of our members.”
To commemorate the occasion, Dr. Wee and several party leaders and members hoisted the party flag outside MCA headquarters, Wisma MCA, in Kuala Lumpur.
The official celebration for the party’s 75th anniversary will take place on March 9 at Wisma MCA.
Reflecting on the party’s journey over the past 75 years, Dr. Wee acknowledges that MCA has evolved into a seasoned and resilient organization that has weathered both good and challenging times.
“Regardless of the obstacles and hardships ahead, MCA is committed to standing strong as the voice of the people,” he affirmed.
