In Mexico City, Mexican presidential candidate Claudia Sheinbaum made a promise on Monday to continue supporting the state-owned energy companies in the country if she is elected in the upcoming election. She also stated her commitment to speeding up the transition to renewable energies.
Sheinbaum emphasized the importance of increasing crude oil production to reach 1.8 million barrels per day and improving the efficiency of refineries. This, she believes, will help reduce the country’s dependence on costly gasoline and diesel imports. However, she did not provide a specific timeframe for these goals.
Sheinbaum’s statements were made during a press conference and were reported by Ana Isabel Martinez, Adriana Barrera, and Stefanie Eschenbacher in Mexico City. The news was later edited by Sarah Morland.
