MELAKA: A 21-year-old soldier who had been missing for 41 days was found safe in a restaurant in Semabok.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said on Monday (August 5) that Private Muhammad Fakrullah Nazri was spotted by people at around 7pm on Sunday (August 4).

The soldier’s father, aged 48, told reporters that his middle child out of three appeared confused and began to cry when he saw his older brother who had come to collect him.

“We don’t know why he left home and stayed in cheap hotels here since he disappeared. The officers from Terendak Army Camp have taken my son back,” he said.

The father said his son had no personal issues and had not been bullied and added that his son started acting oddly only after he came back from duty near the Thai border.

The father said his son had been with the Armed Forces for over two years and expressed gratitude to everyone who helped look for him.

On August 1, Melaka police asked for the help of the media to share the missing soldier’s details because he did not report back to his base at Sungai Udang on June 24.

He was supposed to return to work that day as his leave had ended.

He was last seen leaving his Tanjung Kling home on a motorbike at 8.10pm on June 24 and had not come back, leading his parents to make a police report a few days later.
