According to Datuk R. Ramanan, the chairman of Mitra’s Special Task Force Committee, the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) has distributed RM62 million out of the allocated RM100 million for the implementation of socio-economic development programmes for the Indian community, particularly the B40 group. This aid was given to more than 100,000 recipients and also to the B40 group under its Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Assistance programme.
Ramanan mentioned that the remaining funds will be paid out in phases and announced plans to empower Mitra in the upcoming year. He made these comments to reporters at the parliamentary constituency’s Deepavali Open House in Sungai Buloh on Sunday, November 19.
He also stated that a special year-end retreat will be organized for the officers, directors, and committee members of Mitra to discuss the initiatives for 2024 and to focus on empowering and strengthening Malaysia’s Indian community, particularly the B40 group.
Most of the initiatives in the approved RM62 million were for education, higher education, kindergartens, schools, and healthcare, according to Ramanan. He emphasized the importance of investing in education, mentioning that it is the most powerful weapon and that it will be the priority during his tenure as Mitra Chairman. He added, “Education is our legacy, our future.”
He also highlighted the need to invest in students and their future. He stressed the importance of empowering and strengthening the Indian community in Malaysia, particularly those in the B40 group, and disclosed that this would be the main focus for Mitra in the upcoming year.
Ramanan expressed optimism about the impact of the aid and initiatives on the Indian community’s future, particularly in education. He expressed confidence that these measures would contribute positively to the welfare and development of the Indian community in Malaysia.
This initiative aims to address the needs of the Indian community, especially those in the B40 group, and to provide them with opportunities for socio-economic development. The focus is on education, healthcare, and small business enterprises that will benefit the Indian community and help them rise above socio-economic challenges.
Overall, the aim of Mitra’s allocation of RM100 million is to address the socio-economic needs of Malaysia’s Indian community, particularly those in the B40 group, and to provide them with the necessary resources and support to overcome these challenges. This will include a special emphasis on education, healthcare, and small business enterprises to empower and strengthen the Indian community in the country.
With a focus on education and socio-economic development, Mitra is aiming to transform the lives and prospects of the Indian community, particularly those in the B40 group, in Malaysia. The distribution of RM62 million to over 100,000 recipients is a significant step towards achieving this goal, and the upcoming initiatives in 2024 are expected to further contribute to the empowerment and progress of the Indian community in the country.
