In the Swiss Open, Malaysian mixed doubles pairs Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie are on the cusp of making history by potentially setting up an all-Malaysian final. Tang Jie-Ee Wei fought hard to claim a hard-fought victory over Thailand’s Supak Jomkoh-Supissara Paewsampran with a score of 21-18, 17-21, 21-15, securing a spot in the last four.
On the other hand, Soon Huat-Shevon put on a dominant performance by defeating Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje with a convincing score of 21-15, 21-10 in the quarter-final held in Basel on Friday (March 22).
In the upcoming matches, Tang Jie-Ee Wei will be facing Taiwan’s Ye Hong-wei-Lee Chia-hsin while Soon Huat-Shevon is set to take on the Dutch duo Robin Tabeling-Selena Piek in a highly anticipated encounter for a spot in the final.
Unfortunately, it was the end of the road for Malaysian men’s doubles pairs Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun and Orleans Masters champions Choong Hon Jian-Mohd Haikal Nazri as they both suffered defeat at the hands of Indonesian opponents. Wei Chong-Kai Wun lost 14-21, 21-23 to Leo Rolly-Daniel Marthin while Hon Jian-Haikal was defeated 16-21, 20-22 by Sabar Gutama-Moh Reza, thus ending their journey in the tournament.
