KUALA LUMPUR: Following the arrest of former 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) lawyer Jasmine Loo Ai Swan, Bukit Aman suggests that more arrests could take place in the ongoing investigation.
Last Friday (July 7), Loo surrendered herself at the Dang Wangi police headquarters, accompanied by her lawyer, leading to her arrest.
Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, the Inspector-General of Police, confirmed that the investigation into the 1MDB scandal has never been halted.
“Rest assured, the police are keeping a close eye on other suspects who are still at large, including fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho @ Jho Low,” said Husain during a press conference at Bukit Aman on Thursday (July 13).
However, he declined to reveal if the police have any knowledge of the current whereabouts of the fugitives, stating that disclosing such information could jeopardize the investigation and their tactics.
In May, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) unveiled that Jho Low was hiding in Macau.
In 2020, former IGP Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador disclosed that several individuals, including Jho Low, were hiding in China.
Among them, former CEO of SRC International, Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil, was believed to be in Hong Kong, while Loo was speculated to be hiding in Shenzhen, China.
