According to Ardiyanshah Syahrom, the Indonesian Consul-General in Johor Baru, a total of 119,491 Indonesians living in Johor, Melaka, Negri Sembilan and Pahang are expected to participate in the republic’s general election.
Of this number, approximately 90,666 are from Johor. These Indonesian citizens residing in the four states are under the authority of the Consul-General of the Republic of Indonesia in Johor Baru and will be casting their votes through this office.
In addition to voting at the Consul-General’s office, ballot drop boxes have been deployed to community areas and companies with a large concentration of Indonesians. Through this method, around 55,000 citizens have already submitted their votes between Monday, Feb 5, and Friday, Feb 9.
The ballot drop boxes are still being circulated in the four states and are expected to be returned to the consul-general’s office by Monday, Feb 12. The last day for votes to be collected through the election boxes is today, Feb 11.
Furthermore, an estimated 2,680 voters are anticipated to visit the office to cast their votes, with approximately 500 people having done so by 11am. On Feb 14, polling day in Indonesia, 1,364 individuals will be involved in counting the votes.
