RABAT, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) — The Moroccan Navy has rescued 67 illegal immigrants from an inflatable boat off the kingdom’s southwestern coast, the official news agency MAP reported on Friday.
According to the report, the immigrants, which included a woman and three minors, were saved in waters located approximately 100 km off the coast of the Moroccan port town Tarfaya on Thursday.
Following their rescue, the immigrants, who were originally from sub-Saharan Africa, received initial medical assistance. They were then transported to the port of Laayoune on Friday.
Upon arrival at Laayoune, the immigrants were handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie to complete the necessary administrative procedures, as indicated by the report.
