In London, both Formula One and its governing body have issued statements regarding the allegations against Red Bull boss Christian Horner, who is currently facing scrutiny and attempting to retain his position at the reigning world champions. This comes as the start of the season is fast approaching and testing is imminent.

Red Bull’s parent company in Austria initiated an independent investigation into the conduct of the 50-year-old Briton after unspecified allegations were made against him on Feb. 5. The investigation is still ongoing, and Horner has denied any wrongdoing.

On Sunday, Formula One’s commercial rights holder released a brief statement expressing hope that “the matter will be clarified at the earliest opportunity, after a fair and thorough process.” The Paris-based FIA followed on Monday with a statement reaffirming its commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and inclusivity within the sport.

Both entities declared that they would refrain from making any further comments until the outcome of the investigation is determined. Neither Red Bull nor the British-based team have disclosed the details of the allegations, although media reports have suggested inappropriate and controlling behavior towards a female colleague.

During the launch of Red Bull’s RB20 car in Milton Keynes last Friday, Horner stated that he remains confident and is cooperating with the ongoing process. He vehemently denied “absolutely any allegation that’s been made against me.” A hearing in London with an independent barrister on Feb. 9 lasted nearly eight hours, as reported by Sky Sports.

Despite the controversy, the Briton is expected to attend testing in Bahrain this week and is scheduled to participate in a regular FIA news conference on Thursday alongside other team principals before the opening race at Sakhir on March 2. If Horner were to be ousted from Red Bull, it would undoubtedly create a seismic shock for the sport.

Last year, Horner and his team celebrated the most dominant season in Formula One history, with Red Bull achieving victory in 21 of 22 races. The new season will see Dutch driver Max Verstappen aiming for a fourth successive title under Red Bull’s banner. Additionally, Horner holds the distinction of being the longest-serving team boss in Formula One and was the youngest when he led Red Bull into the sport in 2005.
