(Reuters) – Spanish young racer Fermin Aldeguer has signed a two-year contract with Ducati to move up to MotoGP in 2025, with an option for two additional years, the Italian manufacturer announced on Monday. However, the team that Aldeguer will join has not been revealed yet.
At just 18 years old, Aldeguer is currently competing in Moto2 and impressed many by winning the final four races of the previous season, ultimately finishing in third place overall. It is widely speculated that he will be joining the Pramac satellite team within the Ducati stable.
Luigi Dall’Igna, the general manager of Ducati Corse, praised Aldeguer as “one of the strongest riders in the new generation of MotoGP.” Dall’Igna stated, “Over the last few years, we have followed his evolution; during the last season, he showed incredible speed. He is a very young guy with the potential and characteristics to do well, and we will give him all the technical support to help him grow.”
Aldeguer expressed his excitement in fulfilling a childhood dream by moving up to MotoGP. He said, “The time has arrived to take the big leap and compete with the world’s finest riders, and what’s more I’ll be doing it with the best bike on the grid.”
