After the socks controversy involving Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd, the Batu Pahat Municipal Council (MPBP) has decided to revoke the company’s business licence. The council issued a notice instructing the company to cease operations due to activities that went against its licensing terms. Council president Ezahar Abu Sairin personally served the notice to Xin Jian Chang director Soh Hui San at Menara MPBP.

The council justified its action by stating that it is in accordance with MPBP’s by-laws governing trade, business, and industrial licensing. During the serving of the notice, the council’s chief whip and councillors were also present to witness the event.

Following the notice, Xin Jian Chang put up a banner at the front gate of its factory in Sri Gading, apologizing for its mistake. The premises showed no signs of activity, as the company specializes in packaging and distribution of goods. The banner displayed a message of sincere apology for the unintended mistake that led to the sock issue.

The company’s management had previously issued an apology statement on Tuesday, March 19, in response to the controversy. Despite the efforts to address the situation, the council ultimately decided to revoke Xin Jian Chang’s business licence.
