Muda has announced that Mohamad Iswan Ishak will no longer be running as their candidate in the upcoming state polls for the Repah constituency in Negri Sembilan.
After discussions, Iswan has chosen to withdraw his candidacy for personal reasons, according to a statement from the party’s election committee on Friday (July 28).
The party thanked Iswan for his cooperation and wished him well in his future endeavors.
Muda secretary-general Amir Abd Hadi clarified that Iswan, who is a popular social media influencer, was not a member of the party.
Amir added, “He was among those who participated in our online campaign earlier to promote the democratization of the candidate selection process.”
Iswan faced backlash recently after an old video resurfaced in which he made jokes while his friend pretended to be a disabled person in order to park in a designated lot. He has since apologized for the video.
In a TikTok video, Iswan confirmed that he will not be running in the state election. He expressed his intention to focus on learning before taking on a public representative role.
He stated, “I will continue to raise awareness of issues in my area, Repah, not as a representative but as a regular citizen.”
