PETALING JAYA: MyJPJ app users will soon be required to use MyDigital ID for logins following its latest update (version 2.7.0 on both iOS and Android), according to a notice on the app.

Logins via MyDigital ID will be implemented on Oct 10, and will be made mandatory for all users.

This means that those who have not yet registered for MyDigital ID will need to do so by installing the app from either the Google Play Store or the Apple App store.

Some Malaysians took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their concerns with the compulsory use of MyDigital ID for logins, with those like @_kesatria posting that the change may cause unnecessary complications, especially for senior citizens.

“I feel like this is inconvenient, especially for my parents in the kampung,” @_kesatria wrote, adding that the MyJPJ app is important for checking road tax/driving licences.

Another user, @tevanraj, called for a return to physical driver’s licences and road tax, writing: “Technically, you can’t show your licence if you can’t use MyJPJ app so you have no option except to do MyDigital ID.”

Some users expressed confusion between MyDigital ID and the Central Database Hub (PADU), while others questioned the need for so many different apps used by government agencies.

The MyJPJ app can be used to view and renew drivers’ licences and road tax. An update earlier in August also added the ability to view vehicle ownership certificates within the app as well.
