The trial of Datuk Seri Najib Razak involving 1MDB at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur was halted due to the former prime minister not feeling well.
Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah was informed by Dr Mohd Hafiz Mohd Hoshni, the medical officer at Kajang Prison, that Najib complained of a stomach ache and had to go to the toilet three times on Tuesday morning.
“Najib appeared weak, tired, and dehydrated. I prescribed him medication and oral rehydration salts,” said Dr Mohd Hafiz.
Najib’s blood pressure was also reported to be low by the doctor.
The doctor was summoned to court during the 1MDB trial to explain Najib’s condition.
Prosecution informed the court that Najib was ill and the trial had already commenced.
Justice Sequerah inquired if Najib would be able to continue with the trial for the day.
The doctor stated that it would not be possible as the prescribed medication may cause drowsiness, recommending Najib to rest for two days.
Justice Sequerah decided to adjourn the trial early and resume proceedings the next day.
The doctor was requested to provide Najib’s medical certificate for the day.
Najib, aged 70, is facing a total of 25 charges, including abuse of power and money laundering involving RM2.28 billion.
