    National Day: 50 Armed Forces, security forces assets to be involved in air show

    KUALA LUMPUR: Approximately 50 air assets belonging to the Armed Forces and security forces will participate in an upcoming air show on Thursday (Aug 31) to commemorate the 2023 National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya.

    The air show, led by the air force, will involve assets from various categories such as Sukhoi Su-30MKM fighter jets, F/A-18D Hornet and BAE Hawk aircraft, A400M transport aircraft, C130 Hercules aircraft, as well as helicopters from the army and navy.

    Moreover, aerial assets from the police, the Fire and Rescue Department, and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency will also be present.

    Undoubtedly, the star of the air show will be the combined segment of the helicopter formation, involving 25 helicopters that will perform amazing and thrilling stunts for the spectators.

    This segment aims to showcase the capabilities and readiness of the country’s security forces, displaying a combination of special skills and expertise to all visitors attending the 2023 National Day celebration.

    Meanwhile, the army’s Western Field Command Headquarters has announced that a total of 178 army assets will be participating in the 2023 National Day parade.

    These assets include the VAMTAC S3 Weapons Carrier Vehicle (KPS), the 105mm LG MK III artillery cannon, the 8×8 Gempita AFV 30mm Armoured Personnel Carrier, the ACV 300 Adnan IFV 12.7mm tank, and the PT 91 Pendekar tank.

    Notably, the ASTROS II Multiple Launch Rocket System (SRLB), the Field Hospital, the Pontoon Tactical Bridge Vehicle – Standard Module, and the Tactical Mobility Support System (TMSS) vehicles are expected to attract attention during the parade.

    The navy, on the other hand, will showcase two navy Missile Trailers and a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB), while the air force will display three RMAF Missile Trailers.

    The army contingent will be the largest contingent in the 2023 National Day parade, with the participation of combined contingent of army specialised forces, the 10 PARA Brigade team, the army reserve team, and a Malbatt team.

    The parade, with the theme “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan” (Determination in Unity, Fulfilling Hope), will involve 10 contingent components: Nationhoody, Madani Malaysian Unity, Economy, Banking, Telecommunications, Creative Industries, Community, National Sports, Well-being, and National Security. – Bernama
