PETALING JAYA: Khalid Ali, a national football icon, has died at the age of 66 after nearly a year of battling lung cancer.
The former Selangor right back represented the national team from 1977 to 1985 and played a key role in helping Harimau Malaya qualify for the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, Russia.
He was also known for his outspoken views on Malaysian football, often expressing his criticisms in the press.
