A new date of March 21 has been set by the Magistrate’s Court in Ipoh for the mention of a murder case involving a senior police officer who allegedly crashed his car into a motorcycle, resulting in the death of a Form Five student in Taman Jati last year.
The decision to set the new date was made on Wednesday (Feb 7) by Magistrate S. Punitha after DPP Afzainizam Abdul Aziz requested more time to obtain important documents related to the case.
Deputy Supt Mohd Nazri Abdul Razak, aged 44, was charged with murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code on Dec 18.

He was accused of committing the offence against 17-year-old Muhammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie at Jalan Taman Jati, near SMK Jati, between 12.05pm and 12.40pm on Dec 15.
After the proceedings, Afzainizam mentioned that they would request the transfer of the case to the High Court once all necessary documents have been acquired.
There was a heavy police presence at the court premises during the proceedings, and this time, members of the media were allowed to cover the proceedings. During DSP Mohd Nazri’s initial charge, media access was limited to one representative per news agency.
The suspect, wearing a black hoodie and face mask, was escorted to the courtroom by several policemen. Lawyers Datuk Wan Azmir Wan Majid and Zamri Idrus were also present to act on behalf of the victim’s family.
The late teenager’s brother Zarul Fitri Muhd Zamrie, aged 29, and several relatives were also in attendance.
