IPOH: Perak PKR hopes to continue working with Barisan Nasional during the next general election, says its new party chairman.
Mohamad Hairul Amir Sabri said they currently have a good relationship with Perak Barisan and believe their collaboration can be fruitful in winning more seats.
“We often have meetings with Perak Mentri Besar (Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad), and the new state party committee will continue to have more meetings with him.
“I hope we can continue this alliance to face the general election together,” he said in a press conference when introducing the new state party line-up at its headquarters here on Saturday (Oct 5).
“As we can see in the previous by-election results, through the cooperation, we can win.
“Maybe we can increase the number of seats, but the top party leaders will still make the final decision,” the former state deputy chairman added.
Mohamad Hairul Amir, who is also Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s chief special officer, said the state party aimed to get 100,000 members by the end of the year.
“We currently have about 86,000 members in all 24 divisions (in Perak),” he said, adding that the state party’s convention is expected to be held on Oct 27.
Mohamad Hairul Amir succeeds Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang.
State executive council member and Tualang Sekah assemblyman Mohd Azlan Helmi is the state party deputy chairman.
