IPOH: The next “Save Malaysia” rally will be held in Permatang Pauh, Penang, on Aug 31, say organisers.

Save Malaysia secretariat spokesman Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said they chose the location because it was where Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim first made his “Reformasi” declaration.

“We hope to see 10,000 people joining us,” he said in a press conference after the rally outside Anwar’s parliamentary office in Meru Raya on Saturday (July 27).

“We hope there are no efforts to stop us from taking part in the assembly,” he added.

During the rally, Tun Faisal Ismail, Pertubuhan Peribumi Perkasa Malaysia information chief Irwan Fahmi Ideris and Pejuang information chief Rafique Rashid presented a memorandum to Anwar’s chief special officer Mohamad Hairul Amir Sabri.

The memorandum contained the demands for Anwar to resign and claimed that Anwar had committed 10 “offences” including his failure to lower the cost of living and restricting freedom of speech.

Tun Faisal Ismail said the people are still facing hardship and felt there had been no improvements since the unity government was formed.

“Savings are getting less, while the cost of items is getting high.

“We are expecting the price of petrol to go up later,” he said.
