    NHL roundup: Penguins end Avs' record road run

    Reilly Smith scored two goals in the first period and Tristan Jarry saved all 31 shots he faced on Thursday as the Pittsburgh Penguins ended their three-game losing streak by defeating the Colorado Avalanche 4-0. The Avalanche, who had won all six of their previous games, had their NHL record for consecutive road wins snapped at 15. This was Jarry’s second shutout of the season and the 15th of his career.

    Lars Eller and Sidney Crosby also scored for the Penguins, who have now won six out of their last eight meetings against the Avalanche.

    The New York Rangers shut out the Edmonton Oilers 3-0, with Jonathan Quick making 29 saves. This was Quick’s 59th career shutout, moving him into a tie for 20th place on the all-time shutouts list. Adam Fox and Brayden Schneider each had a goal and an assist for the Rangers.

    In Philadelphia, the Flyers defeated the Minnesota Wild 6-2. Bobby Brink scored two goals for the Flyers, and Travis Sanheim added one goal and two assists. Sean Couturier, Travis Konecny, and Owen Tippett also contributed to the victory. Dakota Mermis and Marcus Foligno scored for the Wild.

    The Winnipeg Jets defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-1, with Connor Hellebuyck making 35 saves. Mason Appleton and Nino Niederreiter both had a goal and an assist for the Jets. Lucas Raymond scored the only goal for the Red Wings.

    In a thrilling overtime game, the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Seattle Kraken 3-2. Martin Necas scored the game-winning goal with 9.7 seconds left in overtime. Frederik Andersen made 24 saves for the Hurricanes.

    The Anaheim Ducks scored three unanswered goals to defeat the Boston Bruins 4-3 in overtime. Mason McTavish scored the game-winning goal for the Ducks. David Pastrnak and Charlie Coyle scored for the Bruins.

    The Montreal Canadiens rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 in overtime. Cole Caufield scored the game-winning goal for the Canadiens. Emil Bemstrom scored two power-play goals for the Blue Jackets.

    In a dominant performance, the Tampa Bay Lightning shut out the San Jose Sharks 6-0. Jonas Johansson recorded his second consecutive shutout with 23 saves for the Lightning. Brayden Point, Michael Eyssimont, and Steven Stamkos scored in the first period for Tampa Bay.

    The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Dallas Stars 4-1, with Morgan Rielly registering a goal and an assist. Mitchell Marner, Tyler Bertuzzi, and John Tavares also scored for the Maple Leafs. Mason Marchment scored the lone goal for the Stars.

    The St. Louis Blues blanked the Calgary Flames 3-0, with Oskar Sundqvist scoring a goal and an assist. Goaltender Joel Hofer recorded his first career shutout for the Blues. Jacob Markstrom made 32 saves for the Flames.

    In a close game, the New York Islanders edged the Ottawa Senators 3-2. Noah Dobson scored the game-winning goal early in the third period for the Islanders.
