Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has sent a letter of demand (LOD) to Bersatu member Badrul Hisham Shaharin (Chegubard) regarding his comments on flood mitigation projects.
The Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister is demanding an immediate retraction and public apology for the statement which, he claims, contained defamatory elements.

“It is a serious case of defamation which warrants strong legal action to protect my good name and reputation as well as that of the ministry and the Federal Government,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Dec 28).
“Our commitment to upholding the truth and correcting misperceptions remains steadfast in light of the groundless accusations.
“Through this legal action, we affirm our dedication to integrity and adherence to due process.”

Nik Nazmi also stated that he welcomes any police investigation into the accusations made by Badrul Hisham, who alleged the presence of corrupt elements in the flood mitigation project across the country.
Badrul Hisham claimed that the project cost had risen to RM16.6 billion and involved companies and unknown individuals who received commissions as proxies for the minister, and filed a police report on the matter on Dec 20.
In response, Nik Nazmi dismissed the allegations as groundless and malicious, and proclaimed that he would take legal action against Badrul Hisham.
