During the Ops Selamat 21 road safety operation in Besut district, a total of nine accidents have been recorded over the course of two days in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations this year.
According to Besut District Police Chief Supt Abdul Rozak Muhammad, only one fatal accident has been reported so far.
The operation, which started on Thursday, February 8 and is set to conclude on Tuesday, February 13, is aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and the safety of road users as they travel to their destinations.
Supt Abdul Rozak Muhammad also mentioned that the operation is intended to strengthen the adherence to road laws and regulations and to monitor hotspot and blackspot locations.
He further explained that the daily task force during Ops Selamat consists of four officers and 19 personnel from the Besut Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, as stated in a release on Saturday, February 10. – Bernama
