In eastern Turkey, a landslide at the Anagold Mining operation has left nine miners missing, according to the energy ministry. Rescue efforts are currently underway to locate the missing individuals.
The mine, located in Erzincan province, is managed by Lidya Madencilik and is owned by Turkey-based Calik Holding and Toronto-listed SSR Mining.
SSR Mining has not yet issued a comment about the incident from its Turkey office.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya informed broadcaster A Haber that 400 search and rescue workers are involved in the search for the missing miners.
The government has initiated an investigation into the cause of the landslide and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
