The Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, has dismissed claims that investigations into matters related to race, religion, and royalty (3R) are politically motivated or carried out under the directive of politicians. He emphasized that such investigations are conducted on individuals from all segments of society who touch on 3R issues, not just politicians. He stated that action is consistently taken against those who touch on 3R matters, regardless of which political party is leading the government. Razarudin highlighted that even the previous government administration also called for 3R issues not to be touched as it can disrupt public order. This statement came during the opening of the Fourth National Forensic Symposium for Law Enforcement at the Royal Malaysia Police College.
When asked about the claims on social media regarding police actions on 3R cases being allegedly carried out on the orders of politicians, Razarudin affirmed that the police will continue to take stern action against those harping on 3R issues. He emphasized that there will be no space for 3R issues to be played up by anyone, as it can jeopardize the nation’s harmony.
Regarding the investigation involving Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Razarudin disclosed that the appointment to record the Perikatan Nasional chairman’s statement has been postponed to next Tuesday at Muhyiddin’s request. Authorities are investigating Muhyiddin based on his speech during a ceramah where he was reported to have uttered remarks that it was “haram” to vote for the Pakatan Harapan candidate at Taman Kempas in Johor on September 2.
Razarudin further mentioned that the investigation paper involving PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has been submitted to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC). He stated that the investigation has been completed, and they are awaiting further instructions from the AGC regarding the case. Abdul Hadi allegedly made remarks disputing the Pardons Board’s granting of pardons that were considered un-Islamic during a ceramah in Muar.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay previously stated that the PAS president answered five out of the 24 questions asked, with the remaining questions to be answered in court. Abdul Hadi is being investigated under the Sedition Act and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
Razarudin also mentioned that the investigation paper on Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who allegedly touched on 3R issues, was submitted to the AGC two days ago. Additionally, he shared that an individual known as Imam Mustaqim was recently jailed for nine months after failing to pay the fine imposed by the court in relation to a 3R matter. The police’s 3R task force is composed of 32 personnel and officers.
