According to state media, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw a test of a submarine-launched cruise missile and also inspected the construction of a nuclear submarine on Sunday.

The missile in question was the Pulhwasal-3-31, which North Korea claimed to be developing and tested last week, as reported by KCNA news agency.

Kim Jong Un also reportedly visited the construction site of a nuclear-powered submarine, emphasizing the urgent need for nuclear armament of the navy as a national priority.

Meanwhile, South Korea’s military confirmed that North Korea had fired multiple cruise missiles into the sea from its east coast on Sunday morning, but did not provide further details.
