According to state media KCNA, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has received photos of various U.S. locations, including the White House, Pentagon, and naval base of Norfolk. The images were captured by a spy satellite recently launched by North Korea.
The purpose of the satellite is to monitor U.S. and South Korean military activities, and it has already sent back a series of photos depicting “major target regions,” as described by KCNA. These regions include the South Korean capital of Seoul and various U.S. military bases.
Additionally, Kim Jong Un examined satellite images of the Andersen Air Force Base in Guam and a U.S. shipyard and airbase in Norfolk and Newport. The images revealed the presence of four nuclear-powered air carriers and a British air carrier, as reported by KCNA.
The launch of the satellite has been met with criticism from the United States and South Korea, both of which have labeled it a violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions prohibiting the use of ballistic technology. South Korean officials have also cast doubt on the authenticity of the North’s satellite capabilities, noting that the country has not released any of the photos to verify its claims.
