As of 8am on Sunday (Oct 1), the number of flood evacuees in Kedah decreased to 408 people from 136 families. This is a reduction from the 437 people involving 147 families who were evacuated the previous night. Kedah Civil Defence Force disaster management secretariat chief Major (PA) Muhammad Suhaimi Mohd Zain reported that all the victims were placed at three relief centres in the Kota Setar district. These centres include SK Taman Aman, which currently houses 274 victims from 93 families, SK Seri Gunung with 91 people from 29 families, and SMK Alor Merah, providing shelter to 43 victims from 14 families. Major Muhammad expressed optimism, stating that if the weather remains favorable, all evacuees may be allowed to return home today. This information was reported by Bernama.
