In Selangor, only four out of the 1,091 premises inspected under the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) this year have faced any action, according to Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry chief enforcement officer Mohd Khairi Jamaludin.
He mentioned that this shows the high level of compliance among traders in the state during the Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, and Deepavali celebrations last year.
After conducting an inspection at a supermarket in Cyberjaya on Saturday, Mohd Khairi told reporters that the ministry is confident that traders will adhere to the SHMMP for Christmas, which is in effect from December 23 to December 27, and that no offences will be committed.
Mohd Khairi also stated that the supply of sugar and cooking oil in Selangor is currently well-regulated and under control. He emphasized that the ministry will enhance the presence of enforcement officers at focal points to promote a harmonious and ethical business environment.
He added that routine inspections will continue to be carried out to ensure that there is no hoarding of cooking oil and sugar in the state.
