PETALING JAYA: Future Sound Asia (FSA), the organiser of Good Vibes Festival 2023 (GVF), has accused The 1975 of failing to comply with performance guidelines despite assurances from their management. The festival was cancelled following lead singer Matty Healy’s “controversial conduct and remarks”, as stated in a press release on Saturday (July 22), reported Reuters. FSA expressed regret for the cancellation and acknowledged that Healy did not uphold the assurances given.
FSA also expressed concern over the incident’s potential impact on the confidence of music promoters and various stakeholders, as well as the stability of Malaysia’s live arts scene.
The controversy surrounding the Good Vibes Festival arose when Matty Healy, the frontman of English pop rock band The 1975, publicly criticized local laws and violated performance guidelines. Consequently, the band has been blacklisted from performing in the country, leading to the cancellation of GVF.
