PETALING JAYA: A ginger cat found injured at the Elmina air crash site has captured the hearts of Malaysian social media users.
In a post on Instagram, the Zul Erwan Veterinary Clinic said that the orange cat – colloquially called ‘Oyen’ – was rescued by Health Ministry officials and was sent to the clinic in an ambulance.
“This Oyen was at ground zero when the aircraft crashed in Elmina. Thank you Health Ministry ambulance team for rescuing Oyen,” the clinic said on its Instagram account on Saturday (Aug 19).
Online users flooded the comment section, praying for the cat’s health and speedy recovery.
They also thanked the Health Ministry for being thoughtful in rescuing the cat and sending it to a vet clinic for treatment.
“Cepat sihat okay Oyen? (Get well soon, okay, Oyen?) We love you!” said user Shzlynnn.
Another user, Affhrhimi, wrote: “Allahu, thank you KKM for caring for Oyen too. Get well soon, Oyen!”
According to an English portal who spoke to the doctor – Dr Zul – who treated Oyen, the male cat suffered a skin tear of about 15cm from the top of his ribs.
Dr Zul also said Oyen’s condition was currently stable and the cat is still under the care of the clinic.
