KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) plans to deploy 30 members of the ‘flying squad’ to targeted areas in the state to ensure everyone is registered in the central database hub (Padu) system.
Marlini Sahul Hamid, the director, said the squad will focus on rural and interior areas where internet access is limited.
“The Terengganu DOSM will begin flying squad operations in Orang Asli settlements, such as Kampung Sungai Pergam, Kampung Sungai Berua, and Kampung Keruak, to prevent residents aged 18 and above from dropping out of the Padu portal registration,” she told Bernama on Sunday (Jan 7).
In addition to the ‘flying squad’ deployment, Marlini mentioned that the department’s first phase of the Padu registration focused on local communities and civil servants, with registration counters opened at 13 selected Digital Economy Centres (PEDi) in all eight districts.
These centers included PEDi Pasir Akar and PEDi Kampung Lay Out in Besut, PEDi Kampung Che Lijah in Dungun, PEDi Felda Jerangau Barat in Hulu Terengganu, PEDi Kampung Geliga and PEDi Felda Kerteh 5 in Kemaman among others.
“For the civil servants, Padu physical counters are also open at state DOSM and Wisma Perkeso, while filling assistance at the district level are at the Besut Operations Office and the Dungun Operations Office,” she added.
So far, a total of 19,126 Terengganu residents have registered with Padu. Registration is open to the public from Jan 2 to March 31, and users can update and verify 30 personal details, including ID card number, household number, and residential address. – Bernama
