Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister, believes that the combination of Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional is the most effective way to save Malaysia from narrow-minded views. He argues that the Opposition is gaining support by using “extremist” methods that exploit racial and religious issues. Anwar states that the government is facing challenges and pressure through slander and criticism. He notes that this struggle is more complex than usual because it stokes emotions, prejudices, and hatred rather than relying on rational considerations.
Anwar highlights that this issue is not unique and draws parallels with Europe, where the rise of neo-Nazism and fascism has led many young people to develop animosity towards minorities, foreigners, and other religions. He suggests that countering this narrow-minded ideology requires the foundation of wisdom and common sense to understand the true spirit of Malaysia.
During a gathering with the unity government leadership at a hotel in Iskandar Puteri, Anwar, who is the chairman of Pakatan, expresses his belief that the combination of Pakatan’s progressive outlook and Barisan’s administrative experience makes the unity government the best vehicle to save Malaysia.
Anwar reassures the Malays, the country’s majority community, that his administration is committed to safeguarding their rights. He emphasizes the acceptance of constitutional principles without belittling, degrading, or insulting any race or religion. He believes that all races and religions in Malaysia should be considered as a family working together to save the country.
