Islamabad, November 2 (Xinhua) – According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Pakistan’s trade deficit in the first four months of the current fiscal year (from July 2023 to June 2024) has decreased by over 34 percent compared to the previous fiscal year.
The PBS reported that the trade deficit, based on the difference between export and import figures, was recorded at 7.416 billion U.S. dollars from July to October of the 2023-24 fiscal year. This represents a decline of 34.70 percent.
During July to October of the current fiscal year, exports amounted to 9.617 billion dollars, which is a 0.66 percent increase compared to the exports of 9.554 billion dollars during the same period in the previous fiscal year.
Imports, on the other hand, experienced a decrease of 18.54 percent. In July to October of the 2022-23 fiscal year, imports amounted to 20.910 billion dollars, whereas in the same months of the 2023-24 fiscal year, they decreased to 17.033 billion dollars.
