A large group participates in a peaceful procession in Kuala Lumpur
The “Himpunan Mega Demi Palestin” rally in Kuala Lumpur was deemed peaceful by Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid.
Comm Allaudeen confirmed that there were no incidents during the procession, which began in front of Menara Tabung Haji on Jalan Tun Razak and concluded at Padang Merbok on Jalan Parlimen the previous day.
“Sufficient police personnel were deployed to maintain control during the rally, and there were no disturbances until the participants dispersed at 6pm,” he stated.
The event, organized by the Palestinian Solidarity Secretariat (SSP), aimed to rally public condemnation against the atrocities committed by Israel’s Zionist military on the Palestinian people.
Approximately 1,000 individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages took part in the rally, traversing through main roads in the city like Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Ampang, and Bulatan Dato Onn.
Participants were heard chanting slogans such as #demipalestin, #fromtherivertotheseaPalestinewillbefree, and #ceasefire, while repeatedly voicing “Free Palestine” en route to Padang Merbok.
One participant, Aziz Abdul Rahman, 55, joined the rally as a means of protesting against the cruelty of the Zionist regime towards the Palestinian community, as reported by Bernama.
He felt that it was essential to voice objections concerning the United States’ backing of Israel, which was continuously perpetrating violence, particularly on vulnerable groups like children, women, and the elderly.
Adriana Ahmad, 31, believed that the rally not only showcased Malaysia’s steadfast support for Palestine but also served as a representation of global Muslim opposition towards the oppression faced by the Palestinian population.
